Editorial Policy
Our Standards
WhatIsTheEasiestLanguageToLearn.com is published by The Language Research Desk. We compile publicly available language-learning research — especially FSI difficulty data, published linguistics, and learner-community reports — into practical guides for English speakers. We do not claim to be certified linguists, language teachers, or polyglots.
How Content Is Created
- Source first. Difficulty hours, category labels, and other numbers stay tied to a cited page on this site or an external source already named in the article. If a figure is not sourced, we drop or soften it.
- Research-backed. We reference reputable language-learning research, recognized language institutes, and established learning resources, plus peer-reviewed linguistics research. When making factual claims, we cite or link to the original source.
- Desk byline. Articles are researched and written by The Language Research Desk. Public bylines use the desk name (an Organization), not a personal author and not invented credentials.
How Content Is Reviewed
Before publication, articles are reviewed for:
- Factual accuracy of FSI categories, hour ranges, and other claims that appear on the page
- Honesty about what we have not tested first-hand, including apps and books we discuss from published documentation and learner reports
- Clarity so a self-directed English speaker can use the guide without invented statistics
How Content Is Updated
We revisit published guides when FSI materials, app pricing, or reader corrections change the record:
- Check that affiliate links still use this site's Amazon tag
- Incorporate new research findings that we can cite
- Address reader questions and feedback
- Verify that external links and references remain active
Product Recommendations
When a page links to a book, course, or study tool, the note is a listing check — edition, format, and current seller — not a merchant product copy rewrite. Selection criteria:
- Fit for the page. We only mention a title when it is relevant to that guide's angle.
- Transparency. We say what the listing is (paperback vs audio, course vs reference) so you can verify the Amazon page before buying.
- No star schema. We do not publish Product, Offer, AggregateOffer, or Review star JSON-LD for these listings.
Some product links are affiliate links (primarily Amazon Associates, tag whatistheeasiestlanguagetolearn-20). Affiliate relationships never influence our recommendations. We earn a small commission if you purchase through these links at no extra cost to you. See our full affiliate disclosure.
